The story of Republican women’s clubs began many years before women even had the right to vote. Inspired by the Republican Party Platform of 1872, adopted at the National Convention, held coincidently in Philadelphia that year, one plank of which said: “The Republican Party is mindful of its obligation to the loyal women of America for their noble devotion to the cause of freedom....”, Republican women’s groups were off and running. In fact, the oldest such club on record was founded in Salt Lake City in the late 1800s.
Hundreds of independent Republican women’s organizations grew up around the nation in the years to come. MCCRW, chartered by the National Federation of Republican Women and the Pennsylvania Federation of Republican Women, is part of a grassroots political organization with thousands of active members in local councils across the nation and in several U.S. territories.
Founded in 1932, MCCRW is one of the most influential women's political organizations in Pennsylvania, working tirelessly to promote the conservative principles, objectives and policies of the Republican Party; inform the public of those principles through political education and activity; elect more Republican women to office; and increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
